Basketball Champions! 🏀
We couldn’t be prouder as both our teams brought home gold in the finals of the Meath Small Schools Basketball League 2026!!
After a delayed start, the girls did so well to hold their composure and face a strong Moynalty side. Ahead from the start, the girls fought hard to battle it out and keep their lead throughout the match. Although both teams came close on the scoreboard at times, the girls never gave up and played with determination and style to win their match, much to the delight of both the team and all the supporters who had travelled to Trim for the big occasion! A fabulous end to a great campaign for the reigning champions.
Next up were the boys, who were delighted to have reached the final, for the first time this year. They faced Dunsany, who had been a tough team to beat in their previous game when they visited our school. From the beginning, the boys found their rhythm and worked in sync to build up a good lead in the early stages of the game. Some outstanding shots saw the ball fly through the net on numerous occasions, each one receiving thunderous roars from the Kilbeg crowd! The boys held off their competition in all 4 quarters, meaning victory was theirs when the final whistle blew! A wonderful feeling for all of them when they lifted the cup and received their gold medals, making Kilbeg history once again by being the first boys team to ever achieve this title!
The support on the day was absolutely fantastic and helped create the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable day for all involved. Our whole school community are so, so proud of what you have achieved.. Congratulations Kilbeg ❤️🖤
